— AIC2017 Organizing Committee

The AIC International Congress has long served as the central gathering point for the global color community, uniting researchers, scientists, designers, and industry leaders who share a passion for understanding how color shapes our world. The 13th edition of this prestigious series brought together a diverse range of perspectives, from fundamental scientific inquiry into color perception and measurement to applied work in art, design, architecture, and digital media. Attendees had the opportunity to engage with cutting-edge research and emerging technologies, while also building lasting professional connections that extend far beyond the conference itself. The congress provided a rich environment for interdisciplinary exchange, encouraging dialogue across traditional boundaries and fostering collaborations that continue to influence the field.

The congress program was thoughtfully structured to offer something of value for every participant. Keynote lectures delivered by distinguished international speakers set the tone each day, offering deep insights into the latest developments in color science and its applications. Invited talks and award speeches highlighted outstanding contributions to the field, while oral and poster presentation sessions gave researchers at all career stages a platform to share their findings and receive constructive feedback from peers. A dedicated exhibition space allowed companies and institutions to showcase innovative products, tools, and services, giving attendees a hands-on look at the practical side of color technology and its commercial applications.

Held on the beautiful island of Jeju, the congress offered a unique setting that blended academic rigor with natural splendor. The venue at ICC Jeju provided state-of-the-art facilities designed to support a seamless conference experience, while the island's stunning landscapes, including its famous coastal trails and volcanic formations, offered participants memorable opportunities for cultural exploration and relaxation between sessions. This combination of world-class science and an inspiring location made the 13th congress a particularly special event in the series. The organizing committee worked diligently to ensure that both the intellectual and logistical aspects of the congress ran smoothly, creating an atmosphere that was welcoming, professional, and conducive to meaningful exchange.

Beyond the formal program, the congress placed strong emphasis on community building and cultural enrichment. Social events and optional tours allowed participants to experience the warmth of Korean hospitality and to discover the distinctive heritage of Jeju Island, from its traditional villages to its celebrated local cuisine. These informal gatherings proved just as valuable as the technical sessions, giving attendees the chance to converse in relaxed settings and to forge friendships that often lead to future research partnerships. The congress also served as an important opportunity to reflect on the trajectory of color science, celebrating past achievements while looking ahead to the challenges and opportunities that lie before the field as it continues to evolve in an increasingly visual and technology-driven world.
